Chocolate Steel Cut Oatmeal

Chocolate Oatmeal (9)

I love chocolate. I don't really understand people who don't. Than again I hate coffee and coffee flavored things. I imagine those who love coffee don't understand me. Coffee just tastes so bitter to me that I don't see the point. No amount of sugar and/or cream can mask that flavor.

Chocolate I understand and love. Well, sort of. I remember sneaking into my Mom's baking cabinet and snitching a piece of her Baker's Chocolate. I unwrapped that yummy smelling morsel and took a huge bite out of it. Boy did I regret doing that! It was so bitter it made my eyes water and I couldn't spit it out fast enough. I learned my lesson that's for sure!

Chocolate for breakfast just sounds so indulgent. My Dad would make us chocolate Cream of Wheat for breakfast on the weekends to eat while watching Ren & Stimpy as a family. He would just make plain Cream of Wheat and add in Nestle Quick chocolate milk powder and god only knows how much sugar. I still love to add chocolate to my cream of wheat and occasionally I can find the stuff with the chocolate already in it. I omit all that sugar and use a packet of Splenda now.

Use the Loofah Subway Art

Use the Loofah Canvas

My husband keeps making me smile.  We saw a Method soap commercial on youtube that just left us in stitches.  Now all my hubby has to do is whisper "Use the Loofah" to get me to smile.  If you haven't seen the commercial, it's mildly disturbing and depending on where you work maybe NSFW:

An Amazing Way to Seperate Eggs

I just saw this video on the Daily What and I'm pretty freakin' amazed.  Just thought I'd share:

Best way to separate eggs ever!   Wonder how she discovered this trick?  She probably tells you but I'm not fluent in any other language.

Breakfast Burritos

I used to hate eating breakfast, especially in high school.  I always thought it made me feel nauseated and even more hungry by lunchtime.   In college it seemed like I never had time to eat breakfast.  Now I absolutely must have breakfast before getting to work.  If not I am grumpy and so is my stomach and boy does it let me know!  The only problem is that with a husband and a roommate still asleep it's hard to putter around the kitchen quietly, especially in our tiny apartment.

Pin All the Things 8/19/12 {Projects}

I took a break from blogging this week to catch up with some old friends who were in town and to finish up some projects.  The beginning of the week was filled with cake poppery.  I had a co-worker order 3! dozen of them for her grandson's 1st birthday party.  I'll be sharing those latter on next month.  I'm pretty behind in posting even though I haven't been that busy cooking or baking.  My other project I'm almost done with is a baby quilt for my new niece Reilly Sue.  She was born August 1st and I can't wait to meet her when I go up to see family next month.

Now that my current sewing project is winding down I've been on the look out for some more.  I do have a painting to finish but I'll need some more paint before completing that project.  I also have a massive scrapbook I've been dying to complete involving my wedding pictures.  Alas, I keep breaking the hole punches.  Peter says I have too many hobbies.  I think he may be right but don't tell him I said so.

Here are some nifty sewing projects I have a hankering to try my hand at:

Keep on Cooking...

I'm taking the week off to hang with friends visiting out of town. In the meantime:

Bzz Agent Review: Bic Soleil Savvy Razor

Recently Bzzagent sent me a nifty new razor to test out and review. I'm pretty habitual when it comes to what I buy to shave my legs. I have rarely switch razors and usually only when I receive a free sample. Before trying out this razor I used Bic Silky Touch disposable razors. They're cheap, disposable and do their job. No nonsense, just like me.

Healthified KFC Coleslaw

Coleslaw (25)

Sorry I haven't posted like I usually do during the week. I have been on a clean all the things spree and busy with work related projects. While cleaning I was reminded that I haven't posted this recipe yet. Actually, it was throwing away the stinky leftovers that reminded me. I was so sad to see that this yummy coleslaw had gotten buried in the fridge and ignored. It would shave been perfect in my lunches all week. Bummer.

Pin All the Things 8/5/12 {Nostalgia}

Recently my sister posted to her facebook wondering what ever happened to Kool-aid points.  I haven't made a pack of Kool-Aid in so long that I don't know when they got rid of the points.  This makes me sad.  I never was able to save up for anything as a kid.  We did have a set of cups and the Kool-Aid man pitcher though.  I seem to recall that our family gave them out as Halloween treats one year because they were really cheap and came packaged with 2-3 flavor packets.

As a result of all this Kool-Aid talk I recalled that I had been unable to find my favorite flavor lately.  I bought some a couple years ago and pretty much wiped Sedano's out of the flavor as they had it on clearance.  A red flag that they would no longer be carrying it anymore.  Sure enough, no more Blue Raspberry Lemonade.  Sad face.  This explains why I haven't been making Kool-Aid.  I do like Tropical Punch and Black Cherry but have opted to drink Crystal Light Pink Lemonade.  Mostly so I don't have to measure out sugar or Splenda.  I'm lazy.  We've established this.

Game of Thrones Birthday Cakes

Game of Cake (62)

My roommate's birthday was August 1st (as is my brother's and his baby girl's!) and I felt challenged to come up with a cake that he would find awesome.  So I asked him what his favorite cake flavor was and he responded yellow.  Which is a color and apparently a legitimate cake flavor.  So what does yellow taste like?  Like cake.  It tastes like cake.  He also like cookies and cream ice cream so I translated that into butter cream icing with Oreo cookie crumbs mixed in.  So that was the easy part, coming up with a theme though...I had so many choices!  We're geeks for heaven's sakes!  Ultimately I settled on recreating the house sigils from the show Game of Thrones.
